Today I’ll be showing off my painted g-g-ghosts!
A while ago I finished painting the Thorns of the Briar Queen I got as a review copy but only recently have I been able to actually take good photos of them. So for a Halloween treat, let’s see my spooky ghosts.
As some of you may have noticed, my Underworlds warbands all share similar themes, namely green and the sandy yellow bases to represent the desert surrounding Shadespire. They were painted from a black undercoat and zenithal highlighted white. Next I worked up from VMA Goblin Green and mixed in bone colours and finally finished with white to get a pastel-green effect. I then glazed them all in green and shaded with an oil green wash then Coelia Greenshade.
The metals were this time shaded with VMC Smokey Ink and the effect came out really nicely. No need to do my usual combo of Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade. Everything else was painted normally to me and thus my spooky green ghosts were done!
Here are some close-ups:
I was very happy with how they turned out. My favourite has to be the headless Chainrasp with his eternal gazing dread. Don’t lose your head. To top it all off, they even won a glass trophy to boot. Painted means power.
With that short but sweet update, I’m done for this week. Blood and Glory prep as well as work have meant I’ve had little time to write articles. More stuff will be coming soon but if you’re down at the event, come and say hi! We can bask in crits together.
Awesome work. It all just comes together so well from model to base.

It’s refreshing to see green ghosts not done with a white undercoat and Hexwraith Flame. Thanks for sharing!
