Buy The Same Token Warhammer Underworlds Set Review

Reviewing the new acrylic tokens from Buy The Same Token for Warhammer Underworlds!

I’m back with a Warhammer Underworlds review but not with the one you were expecting! Today I’m review the new acrylic token set for the same game by Buy The Same Token! These guys are a UK based company who make the best acrylic tokens for a multitude of gaming systems. They make all the tokens themselves and then paint them too. I use them a lot for Kill Team. They sent me a set to review for free, as always I aim to be honest, impartial and constructively critical.

The Tokens

For this token set for Warhammer Underworlds, you get: 4 activation tokens, 20 glory tokens, 7 move/charge tokens, 7 guard/stagger tokens, 12 generic tokens and 12 wound tokens. My review set also came with 6 raise tokens too!

In my above images, you get an idea of what they are like in real life, although my lighting is not great here. The tokens are painted to a high quality and are very hard to chip/damage. The designs are all amazing and the colour choices are good for the most part. My only gripe is that the copper side of glory tokens (the spent side) isn’t as bright in my set, so at a distant glance it can look a little confusing. However, the gold is really vibrant.

For the price, the token set (sans raise tokens) comes in at £39.90. Now, while this is a lot of money, it is great value for acrylic tokens. Especially ones that are painted too. I’m very adamant on my stance that Buy The Same Token make the best acrylic tokens and these are much better, as well as more durable, than the card-stock ones you get in core sets. These acrylic tokens will last much longer, are easier to pick up and flip over, and just look better than the card stock ones. Plus not having to colour these in is so great. Pre-coloured is such a life saver.

If I didn’t have such a huge collection of OOP (Out Of Production) Games Workshop (GW) Organised Play acrylic tokens, I’d have bought these for my own games of Underworlds. Even then, the Buy The Same Token tokens look much better than the GW ones I have. Ideally, in a dream world, GW would hire these guys out to make tokens for their own games.

For those not interested in buying the full set at once, you can buy them individually on the Buy The Same Token website, although the package set comes at a discount compared to buying everything individually. People who are worried about tokens becoming obsolete due to the 6 monthly life-span of Underworlds need not to worry. These core set of tokens will last regardless due to the generic-ness of some of the tokens but they also regularly update the store to include new tokens if needed when game systems are updated, such as with raise tokens.

Pros:

  • Best looking acrylic tokens in the wargaming sphere
  • Durable and painted with strong acrylic paint
  • All the gaming tokens needed to play Underworlds

Cons:

  • Cost
  • No acrylic objective/feature tokens

So would I recommend the Buy The Same Token set for Warhammer Underworlds? Yes! While it may be pricey for some, I still think they’re of great value while also being clear and stylish. As I said, if I didn’t have a slew of tokens already, I’d have bought them myself. Even then, I’ll be also using some of these tokens for my games of Kill Team (guard tokens for when going on guard, etc). Buy The Same Token also ship worldwide and are a UK based company, so you don’t have to worry about being country locked out.

Remember to check out my Discord as well as my Patreon too if you want to give me some more support!

That’s pretty much it from me. So until next time, no matter what tokens you use for Warhammer Underworlds, you can still win as long as you can roll a crit!
