Reviewing the global tournament stats for Kill Team in September 2022!
Welcome to the September Stats Show for Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team where I cover all of the global tournament data for Kill Team! Let’s dive into the stats and see how the game has evolved over the last month!
I’ve also done this as a more in-depth YouTube video which you can watch here:
September 2022 Stats
Once again the standard caveats apply for the stats. All collated from BCP (Best Coast Pairings) and events that their TOs have submitted to us. Big thanks, as always, goes to Hotsauceteddy who’s collated all the data and who this wouldn’t be possible without!
Global Data

September was super-packed for events with there being 1,000 more games than in August! We even had USA overtake Spain as the region with the most tournaments globally. For monthly results, Pathfinders and Intercession are tied for the most tournament wins (although the 3 Space Marine wins are likely Intercession players). No faction with a decent representation rate has a greater than 55% win rate which is great to see.
Hunter Clade have had their worst month since their update with a 41% win rate whereas Phobos Strike Team continue 3 months in a row of have a <40% win rate. Blooded and Wyrmblade have above 55% win rates but have still a low usage rate, continuing to call into question their results. Void-Dancer Troupe also have a near 60% win rate but with the lowest usage rate they’ve had since being updated. What a very strange month we are having.
Month by Month Results

Month by month results show the progress of each faction as we record them. Once again October results are there but more as a spoiler as Teddy updates results weekly. Navy have >60% win rates but from low usage rates, although they did win a tournament. Harlequins and Veteran Guardsmen continue with their consistent monthly tournament win average, being very dependable event-winning factions. Wyrmblade did win 4 tournaments but the perils of low usage continues to cause issues. Intercession do amazingly well and for October are now the most popular Kill Team globally, just missing out on the top spot for September.
Kommandos drop to a 40% win rate but with 2 event wins. Although they are really showing their age now. Craftworlds have a shocking 12% win rate but they are a compendium team. Kroot beat them anyway with a 9% win rate. Pathfinder have rised a lot in popularity again but their win rates show they are fine. Despite winning 7 events (including NOVA 2022 *cough*).
Winrate vs Popularity

Here’s a better look of the September results. Remember, 45% to 55% win rate is good, 44% to 40% means a faction needs help, doubly so if <40%, 56% to 60% is warning signs with >60% meaning a faction likely needs a nerf. Legionary remain solid at 50% with around 350 games. Intercession drop down to 55% after being at near 60% for most of September. Phobos continue to set records as the first box team to spend 3 months in a row with a less than 40% win rate, at least they get P1 now! Kommandos remain on the decline and Corsairs hold the mid-ground consistently.
Meta Tier List

Here’s a new thing HotSauceTeddy has made to mirror (a little) what the 40k guys do. This is a tier list based off of the stats from win rates, tournament wins and meta usage. It’s not meant to be accurate but it is a fun look at things. From results alone this quarter, Harlequins are the best faction with Wyrmblade sneaking into second despite their low usage. Pathfinders close out the top 3 via their tournament dominance. Once again, not a definite list of power but it is funny that Phobos are ranked tied for 21st and are the lowest rated bespoke team. Kroot secure last place though, as is their honored tradition.
September 2022 Stats Overview

Once again we’ve had a fairly health month for the game, although the tournament wins of both Pathfinders and Intercession paint a slightly different picture. Still, Kill Team remains to be well balanced competitively. We now have a new Q3 balance dataslate which should help out Warp Coven and bring down Novitiates even more. I’d be shocked if Phobos improve and their October results don’t paint a good picture so far. Still, the 4 other new teams are doing okay at the moment, although this is with very low usage rates for September.
We’ll also have more Into the Dark events so it will be interesting to see how those shape up. Remember, if you’re a TO doing Into the Dark events, please title it clearly so we can see if there are any data differences for Into the Dark games vs normal games.

So until next time, thanks goes to the man himself: Hotsauceteddy who made this all possible. Plus, remember that no matter what the stats say, you can always roll a crit!
