Back with the stats show for Kill Team!
Welcome to the February 2024 and Q4 Stats Show for Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team where I cover all of the global tournament data for Kill Team! Let’s dive into the stats and see how the game has evolved over the last month and quarter since I last covered the stats!
I’ve also done this as a more in-depth YouTube video which you can watch here:
Stats Disclaimer
Once again the standard caveats apply for the stats. All collated from BCP (Best Coast Pairings). If you don’t use BCP, just contact us with the details and we can add them in! Big thanks, as always, goes to my new stat man Smiles, Lies, Gunfire who’s collated all the data and who this wouldn’t be possible without! Remember, if you share the stats and images, just remember to credit him and me as it helps us both out.
As for other data, we also rank draws as 0.5 instead of a 0 or a 1.
Also if you are a TO who is hiding teams and final results in BCP, please make it all public after the event is completed. Hidden events make it harder to track as we effectively have to manually check the event to ensure it’s all correct.
February 2024 Stats

With a slight change to stats, we’re now doing “true win percentage” which is the winrate of a faction but ignoring the mirrored draws they have. E.g. if Fellgor Ravager drew vs themselves, that would not be included. Draws from different factions are still included.
For February overall, Fellgor continue their dominance with a 3 month streak at a 59% winrate and a high usage rate as well, turning out to be one of the most popular factions played for the month. Troupe come in next at 59%, then Kommandos at 59% who are still the most popular faction in the game, then Novitiates at 58% but with a lower than average usage rate, and finally Pathfinders at 58%!
The rest of the factions sit in the healthy range of 55% to 45% which is pretty good considering the larger number of factions we have now. Notably Blades of Khaine drop down to 52%, showing that they’re now matching true to expected form as more players realise how to play around their tricks.
For under-performing teams we have: Kasrkin at 42%, Scout Squad at 41%, Hearthkyn at 39%, and Warp Coven at 35%. Warp Coven in particularly do horrible for February but Hearthkyn continue to under-perform. Scouts do slightly better this month but it’s not great.

Based on last month’s feedback, we’ve refined how podium data is shown. Now we show how many times a faction went 3:1 at a tournament, how many times that faction podium’d, and how many events they won. You can either see it as a number or on the colourful bar chart opposite.

In another new addition, we have faction performance. This a new creation where we basically average out a faction’s winrate with how popular they are and how well they do at events. Effectively another metric to try and gauge a faction’s power and competitive performance. The chart on right shows all the factions spread out, with the larger the circle the more popular a faction is.

Now we have February GT+ results (events with 4 or more rounds and 16 or more players). Novitiates top out at 73% but with a very small usage rate. Chaos Cults are at 59% but with also a small usage rate. Troupe average out more for usage with a win rate of 58%, Fellgor got to 57% with 107 games, Phobos make a surprise appearance at 57%, Breachers at 57%, and finally Wyrmblade at 56%! A more interesting spread of over-performing teams but also kind of worrying.
For the healthy range, it actually gets worse at this range. Notably Kommandos drop down to 53% but Vet Guard go up to 53%.
For under-performing teams we have: Inquisitorial Agent at 44%, HotA at 42%, Legionary at 41%, Scout Squad at 39%, Hearthkyn at 36%, Exaction at 33%, and Warp Coven at 32%. Now GT+ does have less events overall due to the nature of it, especially in a monthly look, but it doesn’t bode well to see so many teams under-performing here. Shockingly we have teams like Legionary and Inquisition here too but perhaps this is just a freak-month issue.

Now we have the February Podium Data for GT+ events. Shockingly, Veteran Guardsmen perform the best overall here. Very interesting considering their averagely good winrate. Maybe people saying they are too strong are right… Corsairs and Breachers also do very well here but it’s good to see how we can now better break down and show off how factions are performing outside of winrate.

Now we have Compendium data! I won’t go into it too in-depth but here are their normal data and then GT+ results!
Q4 Data

Overall for Q4 data we have Fellgor as the top dogs (goats?) with nearly 500 games and a 62% winrate. Troupe come in next with a 59% winrate, Chaos Cults at 57% although with only 120 games, Kommandos at 57% with OVER NINE THO- hundred games. At least we don’t have too many over-performing teams here.
For under-performing teams we have: Breachers at 43%, Kasrkin at 43%, Hearthkyn at 43%, Kroot at 43%, Warp Coven at 42% and Scouts at 42%. For the worse performing teams, it’s actually only by a small amount and Breachers did pretty well for February.
For podium data, Kommandos obviously dominate again. No one comes close, sans Fellgor but only in regards to event wins. Legionary have a strong showing for 3:1 runs, clearly being gatekept by other factions. Pathfinders do well here too as do Vet Guard who take 3rd place overall!

And once again here is the performance data for Q4. Fellgor are doing so well they actually broke the table which is totally fine.

For GT+ data, Fellgor go up to 61%, Troupe at 60%, Chaos Cult at 59%, Novitiates surprisingly appear with a 57% winrate. Novitiates may be a surprise to some but they are a faction that is still very strong and the Q4 data reflects that, at least when it comes to GT+ events.
For under-performing teams we just have Scouts at 42%, Warp Coven at 41%, Kroot at 41%. Once again a smaller range but with repeated offenders of teams that aren’t doing that well.
For podium data, it effectively mirrors what we had overall for Q4.

Finally we have all the compendium data for Q4!
February 2024 and Q4 Stats Overview

Overall February and Q4 has been quite…weird. It seems the changes from the last balance dataslate actually haven’t done much to change the game for the better. Kommandos still dominate, something they have been doing for 8 months now. Fellgor have been the big winners for the past 3 months, funnily enough over-performing even before they were buffed. Chaos Cults still do very well, although now much less widely used.
Outside of the big 3, Vet Guard continue to be a “sleeper hit” with a middlingly good winrate but doing very well for winning and podiuming at events. Novitiates and Troupe also over-perform for the quarter as a whole.
Scouts continue to not do so well along with chronic teams with Hearthkyn, Kroot and Warp Coven. Elites haven’t done well at all and are now being played less but they still are able to hold their own currently.
We are hopefully having another balance dataslate soon so hopefully all these above issues can be fixed. Otherwise we have a continued great and growing tournament scene with more countries and games every month!
But that’s pretty much it for now. Thanks to my new stats man Smiles, Lies, Gunfire and let me know what you thought of the stats! What would you like us to improve upon etc.
Remember to also check out my Discord as well as my Patreon too if you want to give me some more support!
So until next time, no matter what the stats say, remember you can always win as long as you can roll a crit!
