5 tips to help you on your journey.
Welcome to my 3rd installment of Games Workshop’s Warhammer Community series the Katophrane Chronicle! Today my article is all about how you can go about and winning a Grand Clash. Read the article here.

My article gives you the 5 core principles I follow and used to win my 3 Grand Clashes. It’s not really some secret set of techniques, just simple tips I’ve learned during my time playing Warhammer Underworlds and other competitive games. I see a lot of people burning themselves out over trying to win a Grand Clash, so hopefully my article can help prevent that.
One thing I forgot to mention is how to counter stress. The main thing you’ll find is the stress of being in a Grand Clash final. As I’ve been in 4 finals now (and won 3) it’s kinda second nature to me but it’s still easy to get lost in the atmosphere. Thankfully if you play regularly in tournaments then playing in those final rounds for the top spot help you manage that anxiety from being so close to winning. Although it’s still quite a shock when playing in front of an audience of keen-eyed competitive Warhammer Underworlds players.
In regards to writing notes, the above image should help. This is what I wrote for my original Steelheart’s Champions back in Shadespire! This is something I picked up from fighting games (Street Fighter). I start with general tactics then delve into specific matchups. You get as much as you put in but I find notes a useful resource that I read outside of gaming time.
That’s pretty much it! I hope you enjoyed my 3rd Games Workshop article. Remember you can read the latest Katophrane Chronicle by me here. Relaxing is the best advice I can give for a Grand Clash as well as ways try to roll crits.
